Social media is doing more than just giving marketing VPs every where a migraine, it’s fragmenting the heck out of brands’ online existences. Even if you provide a link to every social network or relevant site you’re part of, the user still ends up leaving your site. Ask an agency to fix this for you and you end up with a major bill and a web app that might not work so well.

Enter a buddy, Matt Hendrick, at TurnSocial.com. His team built a toolbar that turns a website into a complete social hub. It doesn’t just link to social sites or preview still pages but shows live searches for realtime conversations about your brand.

Why so amazing? In a recent conversation, Hendrick and I discussed the success of startups and how they’re linked in innate human desires. TurnSocial is the equivalent of the iPhone in this sense- Humans want everything… Now.

And marketers can give the consumer all the online information about their company now. The TurnSocial toolbar relieves the need for me to visit Yelp to get a review of a restaurant, go to Twitter and search to see the latest buzz about an employer or even go to Google Maps to see what’s within walking distance of an apartment I might want (they started in the apartment rental vertical).

turnsocialtabSocial media aggregation is HOT right now. In the marketing communications industry, I constantly struggle with how and where to pull in everything I can about a brand (notice the ‘Online Footprint’ on the right?). Matt showed me with his toolbar you can copy and paste a few lines of code just like Google Analytics and solve that problem.

Nice. Personally, I think they have one hell of an idea and I’m hounding them for some custom skins. In the meantime, check it out for yourself here.
